Understanding the role of alcohol in contemporary British society is key to targeting the harms it can cause. This conference presented some of the latest developments in alcohol research, addressing issues such as:
-Why alcohol harms are unevenly spread across different social groups
-How policy interventions impact on different communities
-Methods for the identification and prevention of harmful drinking
-The role of science in developing alcohol policy.
Keith Humphreys is a Professor and the Section Director for Mental Health Policy in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. He is also a Senior Research Career Scientist at the VA Health Services Research Center in Palo Alto and an Honorary Professor of Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, London.
